Energy Olympics

Overview

Every year, Georgetown’s Office of Engineering and Utilities hosts the Energy Olympics as part of the #EnergizeGU campaign. The Energy Olympics challenges the five first-year residence halls to compete to reduce electricity consumption. Throughout the month of October, participants are encouraged to adopt energy-efficient behaviors that contribute to reducing Georgetown’s carbon footprint. At the end of the month, the winning residence hall will earn a housing point for all eligible participants.

Eligibility and Awards

To enter the competition, first-year students complete an entry survey , where they answer questions related to energy efficiency. When the competition ends, anyone who has completed the entry survey will receive an email with a link to the exit survey, which will evaluate if their response to these questions has changed. Only students in the winning residence hall who have completed both surveys are eligible to win the housing point. In addition to this prize, two random first-year students who complete the entry survey and refer two friends will be selected to win Apple Airpods.

Every week, the @sustainabilitygu Instagram account will post the current standings. For additional updates, participants can also visit the #EnergizeGU table every Wednesday of October at the Farmers Market.
