About us

Facility Management’s Recycling & Waste Management team implements a number of programs designed to divert materials from landfills and support the University’s sustainability goals. For more information on recyclable items, please visit Recycling at Georgetown. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the following guidelines to ensure proper disposal of waste in your building and use designated trash rooms, trash corrals or loading docks as suggested (see map Waste Disposal Locations) by the signage in those areas.

Food Waste & Compost Disposal

Food Waste is only collected from dining facilities (Leo’s Dining Hall and Epicurean restaurant). Place food waste in designated compost compactor on the loading dock in SWQ building or green compost toters on the same location.

Food Waste & Compost Disposal Include but are Not Limited to:

Food/Food Scraps
Paper Products, Napkins & Paper Towels
Compostable Utensils

Bulk Disposal

Bulk trash includes large furniture, carpets, HVAC filters, pallets, or other oversized items. Report these items by submitting a service request through the Facilities Service Center. We provide 20, 30 and 40 Cubic Yard Dumpsters for bulk waste disposal.
