Sustainability in Practice
Energy and sustainability are rapidly growing and changing industries. Buildings are the District of Columbia’s largest emitters, making building energy efficiency a critical part of the Climate Ready DC Plan. Building Performance Standards are being set nationwide. Like all other building owners in the district, Georgetown University is being held to the district’s requirements. Consequently, our department is focused on offsetting 100% of Georgetown’s electrical usage by leading initiatives to bring green power to the university through renewable energy plants.
