Kevin Turner
Kevin Turner is the Executive Director of Engineering and Utilities for the Department of Planning and Facilities Management, which also oversees inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection and life safety systems, campus utility procurement and billing, and deferred maintenance planning. In 2021, Kevin was appointed the inaugural Director of Engineering and Utilities, which included the management of the Georgetown Energy Partnership, a 50-year concessionaire agreement with ENGIE North America. Since then, Kevin and his team have been instrumental in providing technical support to facilities operations and capital projects. Key accomplishments include the development of our Performance Standards and Design Guidelines, creation of a dedicated fire protection team, $1M in annual utility cost savings through energy conservation measures, and the iterative reduction of GU’s carbon footprint.
Kevin joined GU in 2016 and has previously served as an operations and maintenance engineer and led the Controls and Energy Management team responsible for building automation systems. In these roles, Kevin helped modernize the utility system in support of the new MedStar Verstandig Pavillion and developed the performance standards and technical scope of the Georgetown Energy Partnership. Kevin earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park’s Clark School of Engineering. He also has a certificate in Project Management from Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies and a MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business with a certificate in Non-Market Strategy.
