Winter Break Closure for East-West Road, Dec. 21 to Jan. 5
Posted in Announcements
Dear Members of the Georgetown Community:
Earlier this fall we opened the new East-West Road connecting Entrance 4 off Reservoir Road on the north side of campus to the Leavey Center. To facilitate construction needed to complete the project, the roadway will be closed north of the Leavey Center loading dock to the intersection of East-West Road and West Perimeter Road from Saturday, December 21 through Sunday, January 5.
Please refer to this map for changes to pedestrian and vehicular access during the closure. If vehicular access to the campus, including the Leavey Garage, is needed during this period, those who typically use Entrance 4 should enter via Canal Road. West Perimeter Road will remain open for helicopter transport to Reservoir Road.
Given the university’s closure during the winter break, this two-week work period will allow progress to significantly advance for the East-West Road. Beginning Monday, January 6, the road will reopen with portions narrowing to single lane for the remaining four weeks in January and possibly into February. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic.
As with all similar projects, the schedule of all construction-related work may be affected by inclement weather or unforeseen impacts.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during the ongoing construction activity.
Sincerely,
Ben Kuo
Vice President, Planning and Facilities Management
