BIO: Bright Djiekpor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Howard University and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Energy from the Catholic University of America. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) through the Association of Energy Engineers and holds certifications in Fundamentals of HVAC Design and HVAC Systems from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
Before joining Georgetown University, Bright worked at NASA conducting research, and then worked on HVAC renovation projects with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Most recently, he was a Mechanical Engineer at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). At Georgetown, Bright reviews engineering designs that support the Georgetown facilities personnel in the following areas: Mechanical Systems, Control Systems, and Plumbing. He played a pivotal role in advancing Georgetown University’s Indoor Air Quality Program by developing and implementing comprehensive workflows focused on humidity control. His efforts involved cross-disciplinary collaboration with engineering, environmental health, and facilities management teams to ensure optimal air quality standards across campus. His strategic approach and technical expertise significantly strengthened the university’s ability to maintain healthy and sustainable indoor environments.
In June 2025, Bright completed the Guidelines for Laboratory Design: Health and Safety Considerations program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, accredited by the American Academy of Health Physics. This achievement highlights his continued commitment to designing safe and effective environments in laboratory and research facilities.
