Project Overview

In November 2025, we began renovating and modernizing the Hoya Hotel in Georgetown’s Leavey Center.

This space will serve the larger Georgetown community by hosting events, programs, and gatherings. The project encompasses all 146 guest rooms and approximately 37,500 square feet of shared public spaces. These shared spaces include the hotel lobby and entrance, conference center and ballrooms, restrooms, restaurant, dining areas, and kitchen.

Estimated Construction Start Date: Monday, Nov. 17, 2025

Construction Impacts

Work Hours & Noise Impacts

During this time, please expect typical construction noise to take place in the public spaces on Leavey Level 1 throughout the duration of the project. Tile demolition in the South Gallery may be heard in Sellinger Lounge and Regents Hall.

Construction activities are scheduled Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Audible construction noise can be expected during these hours.

Alternative Entrances

The hotel lobby (Lombardi Circle entrance) will be closed for the entirety of the construction period. Alternatively, community members can enter through the Leavey Garage elevator lobby and stairwell on the east side of the building.

Detour routes, entries, and exits as well as construction areas are noted in the above map.

As part of the final phase of renovations, numerous corridors will be upgraded and will undergo closures. These closures affect pedestrian access between Hariri and the Leavey Center, as well as access to the Amazon Hub (detour path reflected in the above map).

The South Gallery will be closed during construction. As a result, entry and exit access from Stair A & Stair B, as well as entry and exit access from the South Terrace (connecting to Hariri), will not be accessible. Pedestrian signage has been posted to redirect foot traffic.
