Enhancing Campus Safety: A Decade-Long Commitment to Modernized Fire Alarm Systems

At Georgetown, the safety and well-being of our community are paramount. With this commitment in mind, we have embarked on a comprehensive, ten-year initiative to modernize our campus fire alarm systems, providing advanced detection and robust reporting capabilities across all university properties.

This strategic upgrade involves the systematic installation of cutting-edge Notifier Fire Alarm Systems. This choice ensures future compatibility with evolving safety protocols and technological advancements, offering the critical “plug-and-play” adaptability that guards against obsolescence and facilitates seamless system enhancements. Unlike less versatile alternatives, these systems are designed for enduring performance and effortless integration as new programming emerges.

Progress is well underway in Southwest Quad, Harbin Hall, Reiss (partial), Copley, and NRB (New Research Building), which are already benefiting from these state-of-the-art installations. Additionally, multiple buildings, including Building D, RRF(Research Resources Facility), and Leavey, are all under construction and are currently in the process of this vital enhancement. This ambitious project is meticulously designed to:

  • Ensure timely and clear alerts for all occupants during emergencies.
  • Significantly reduce unnecessary system faults, enhancing operational reliability.
  • Elevate all campus facilities to an advanced and consistent technological standard for fire safety.

This modernization effort underscores Georgetown’s dedication to fostering a secure environment for every member of our vibrant community, reflecting our ongoing commitment to excellence and service.
