Reminders for Maintaining Safe Facilities During Cold Winter Temperatures
Maintaining safe facilities during the ongoing cold winter temperatures is crucial to maintaining a safe campus. It is of the utmost importance that community members take added precautions during the winter to keep our buildings safe and our utilities functioning properly.
Thank you for helping keep our community safe this winter.
Pipe and Coil Bursts in Freezing Temperatures
Do not prop or leave doors or windows open at any time.
We have seen recent incidents where localized water intrusions have occurred because exterior doors have been propped open, letting cold air in, which can result in pipes and coil units bursting. Not only is this a hazard to our facilities, but it is also a security and fire safety concern.
If you live in a residence hall, keep your thermostat temperatures set to at least 68 degrees.
